but will with the temptation make also the way out, that you be able to endure it.

NOTE: It is important to note that the entire Old Testament and Covenant, is intended by God as types, shadows, and examplesfor the church. The moral and ethical aspects of the Torah (law), of course carry over into the New Testament or Covenant. Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) points out that what Moses gave in the 10 commandments for outward obedience - now - by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit in believers, is to be lived out through us from the heart. Few people make this clearer in their writings than Oswald Chambers. Yet, it is so easy to read his “My Utmost for His Highest,” and not perceive what he sees in Galatians 2:20 (2:15-21) - “I have been crucified with Christ; and no longer I live, but Christ lives in me: and what I now live in theflesh I live by faith which is in the Son of :God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.”

But the outward laws of the Old Testament for Israel such as circumcision, etc., - do notapply for us today - all such leads to legalism. As Paul points out, the OT law is a Schoolmaster to show Israel and us, that apart from Christ, nonecan keep OT Law! Only the law of the Spirit in Christ Jesus living through us can please the Father.

The Scribes and Pharisees rejected Jesus' teaching on this, and after 3 years of His ministry, crucifiedHim through Rome.

But what Israel did in the wilderness for 40 years: rebelling, disobeying and murmuring against God and His servant Moses - must not once be named amongst us as saints! The righteousness of the Law of Moses was in the letter or the flesh: - the righteousness God demands of NT saints, is of the heart- of the Spirit! It is Christliving out His life through us by the power of the indwelling Spirit, that pleases the heart of God!

Finally, consider 1 Corinthians 10:13 above. In the “Topical Memory System” of the Navigators, this was one of the 108 selected verses. What a wonderful promise of grace! Again, let us return to Galatians 2:20. It lines up with Romans 12:1-2 and Mark 8:34. Here are secrets in the Spirit - that set saints walking in the Spirit apart from all unbelievers, and also all carnal believers who are yet babes walking in the flesh. This is a normal walk for babes and little children. But let us go on and grow into “young men” in Christ: - who are strong; the Word of God abidesin us; and we have overcomethe evil one! 1 John 2:14 (2:12-17).

In the light of these words, then God's words through Paul in the above 13 verses take on a characteristic all their own! The Kingdom of God in us - righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit - make it all possible! All praise to our God, and our Risen Savior and enthroned Lord, Jesus Christ! - J.A.W.
